Attorney Caulfield was given the distinct advantage of being home educated by his parents from elementary school through high school. In addition to receiving rigorous training in critical thinking and writing, the unique educational experience of homeschooling gave him the confidence to do things differently and think outside the box. This early education has proven invaluable as an attorney, where each person’s unique life and questions require unique and individualized responses.

After completing twelfth grade, Attorney Caulfield entered St. Marks Seminary, where he attended classes at Gannon University. While completing his undergraduate degree in philosophy, his seminary training included significant service to the underserved in the Erie Community - the elderly at a local nursing home, the children of downtown Erie at the Kids Cafe, and the disabled at L’Arche Erie. When he was called out of the seminary, he entered law school, with the understanding that service to the underserved would still be at the heart of what he did.

Attorney Caulfield joined the Mizner Law Firm directly out of law school in 2016, and in the years since has successfully tried cases, negotiated significant settlements, and worked hand-in-hand with clients to navigate complex lawsuits.

He lives in Erie with his wife Maura and their five children: Michael, Cecelia, William, Eleanor and Felicity. Outside his practice, he volunteers at St. George Roman Catholic Church in religious education, volunteers as a youth soccer coach with EYSA, and serves on the Board of Directors of the St. Martin’s Center.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
