Rhodes v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

(United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania) - Represented a man who was injured after police officers in an unmarked vehicle blocked the road so that Mr. Rhodes struck them with his motorcycle and crashed. Mr. Rhoades sued for state created danger under Section 1983 and negligence, and the case settled in his favor.

Romanell v. Correct Care Solutions

(United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania) - Represented a man in prison who suffered severe pain resulting from delayed diagnosis and treatment of his broken arm. The prison medical providers settled Mr. Romanell’s claims of deliberate indifference and professional negligence.

Shea v. Millcreek Township

(United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania) - Represented a woman who was fined by the township for placing political signs in her yard. The Mizner Law Firm filed suit for violation of her First Amendment right to free speech, and the case was settled vindicating Ms. Sheas’ First Amendment right of Free Speech.

Estate of Strawbridge v. Venango County

(United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania) - Represented the estate of a man who died of suicide in prison, even though his cellmate had warned the officers beforehand. The Mizner Law Firm sued for failure to protect the man’s safety, and for deliberate indifference to his Eighth Amendment rights. The case settled in favor of the Estate before trial.

Wesley v. Records Supervisor Snyder

(United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania) - Represented a man who was kept in prison for over a year beyond his lawful maximum sentence. Based on this over incarceration, the Mizner Law Firm filed a lawsuit for violations of the Eighth Amendment and False Imprisonment, and the case settled in favor of Mr. Wesley.
